Some of our Past Projects 

SDP Project SellafieldSilos Direct encapsulation Plant (SDP) Project: Design Stress Ltd. supported the SDP project for over 2 years. This project was aimed at reprocessing Magnox waste at the Sellafield site in Cumbria.

Design Stress Ltd. staff designed over 50 vessels, heat exchangers and tanks containing complex internal agitation / transfer systems;  and carried out detailed pipe stress analysis. The largest vessel, made from Inconel 625 alloy, weighed over 100 tonnes.

Sepam2UK Nuclear New Build Project: Our consultants supported SEPAM and the Chinese Nuclear Industry 23 (CNI23) in tendering activities for the design and manufacture of 10 nuclear waste storage tanks for EDF NNB at Hinkley Point C (HPC).

EDFBalance of Plant (BoP) Project: Our consultants carried out pipe stress analysis (including seismic & flange verification) on steel / composite pipework for the BoP Project in HPC to BS EN 13480 & EDF composite codes, using PipeStress (PepS) software.

CalspanCalspan (USA): We have supported international clients, like Calspan, in the design appraisal of Pressure Vessel Casings for the Aerospace Industry.

Atkins RRSubmarine Project: Our consultants reviewed existing pipe stress analyses, design assessments and crack growth data to support the plant life extension of high-integrity pipework within the primary circuit of current T-Class submarines. We successfully passed a Rolls-Royce Design Review Level 5 (DR-5) and fully delivered the work for Atkins.

AMEC1BEPPS/CIEF Project: Design Stress Ltd. staff supported the laying out of pipework, design of vessels, pumps & pipe stress analysis in two high-integrity process buildings using Finglow, CAESAR II & AutoCAD 3D softwares to ASME B31.3, PD 5500, ASME VIII and BS EN 286.

ExtrematExtreMAT Project: We supported the European integrated project ExtreMAT in 3D digitalisation, and developed a unique image-based route in generating 3D Finite Element models (using X-ray CT imaging methods & Simpleware), which captured the ‘real’ structure of materials. This has now evolved into major projects, such as, HS2.

Box Encapsulation Plant Project: Design Stress  Ltd. supported the design of 2 in-cell nuclear pressure vessels with internal agitation and transfer systems.
